About Kooky Cosmo

Michael Kramer (Kooky Cosmo The Clown) has been working as a professional clown for 15 years. Starting out as an aspiring actor, a teacher told him to become a clown. Insulted by the comment because he thought the teacher meant he couldn’t act, Michael did what any insulted actor would do. He became a clown and has loved it from day one.

Performing in venues ranging from people’s homes to military bases to federal prisons on family days, Michael is a fun, joyful and energetic clown (who also performs in the New York City subway system).

The world of clowning in New York City has led Michael to become a stand-up comic performing in clubs and comedy festivals where his high energy, frenetic and clownlike comedy style is a crowd favorite. Michael has been referred to as a tornado of energy while performing in stand-up comedy shows.

Michael is also a classically trained mime in the tradition of Marcel Marceau and performed three years running in “Lincoln Center’s – Meet the Artists Series” as a member of the performing company “The Funny Bones.” He also starred as a love struck mime in “Silence is a Gift” produced at the “New York Film Academy.”

Some of Michael’s influences are:

  • Charlie Chaplin,
  • Buster Keaton,
  • The Marx Brothers,
  • Fatty Arbuckle,
  • Al St. John,
  • George Carl,
  • Red Skelton
  • Steve Martin.

There is a real love, commitment and uniqueness to Michael’s performing style that comes from all the years of performing and perfecting his craft which he generously shares with all people at the events he performs at. One of the most telling quotes Michael heard was from an elderly woman at an event in Brooklyn who said, “It’s nice to see someone who really enjoys his work.”
